Overview of the role:
As an IP Network Engineer role you will be providing a brilliant experience for our customer by managing the requirements for the network and ensuring a stable environment where their continued operations and expansion can thrive. You will be joining the Operations team working on one of BT major customer accounts, supporting all their MPLS core, ISP Services and Datacentre IP infrastructure, MNS Infrastructure and network security.
You will be responsible for supporting real time operational systems, providing leadership and guidance on resolving complex technical issues, owning operational processes and ensuring support is provided to meet service level standards.
What will you be doing as a IP Network Engineer?
Manage an Incident Management trouble ticket queue – distribute tickets to team members, ensure all tickets are addressed through to resolution.
The IP Network Engineer will liaise with the Design team on all new projects and be responsible for implementation.
You will be creating Ops Manual for new network implementation and support.
The IP Network Engineer will be implementing complex technical environments involving large network and security projects and have the ability to work as part of a team and has the capacity of taking on escalated issues from other team members.
Responsible for peer technical reviews before deployment into service.
Draft reports and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors on operational stability projects.
Operational support of network security across all customer datacentres.
What makes a successful IP Network Engineer with BT?
Ideally CCNA or equivalent in Juniper. Huawei Certs will be considered.
Experience troubleshooting network issues.
Experience working with firewalls and loadbalancers a distinct advantage.
Excellent organisational & time-management skills. Ability to deliver to tight timescales.
BS in an engineering discipline.
