Director of Technology

Job Summary:

The Director of Technology will play an integral role in setting the company’s technology vision and strategy and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs across both Mobile and Fixed Line. They will provide sound technical advice and leadership to all areas of our business.

You should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator and an expert in technological development.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities;

Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with the company goals
Align the company’s strategy with the markets sectors that the company is currently operating within and those that the company is trying to enter.
Ensure that the technical resources are aligned with the company’s business needs
Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
Create timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services
Specifically manage the In-House Design and Survey teams for the output of High Level and Low Level Designs in both Mobile and Fibre to the Premise (FttP) Networks.
Make executive decisions on behalf of the company’s technological requirements whilst maintaining a client-focused outlook
Develop policies and procedures and use technology to enhance products and services that focus on external customers for both existing and new accounts
Work extensively with the Director of IT and jointly develop a technical and IT strategy where common strategies and thinking align as we see the convergence of IT and telecoms technology come together from a Client prospective.
Communicate the technical strategy both internally and to our customers
Sell Obelisk technical services to our existing and new customers
Set and monitor KPI’s to assess technological performance
Stay on top of technology trends and developments
Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards
Support the sharing of best practice within Obelisk
In depth knowledge of GSM, LTE, IP and Fixed Line/Fibre networks a requirement
Knowledge in Design and Implementation of these networks an advantage
Skills & Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent qualification
10 years + working in a technological role
5 years + working in a managerial role
Ideally having experience from both operational (Client side) and vendor/services aspects of technology and professional services
The ability to present at industry events
A confidence of presenting and working with the executive team of Obelisk and the VC suite of Client organizations
Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards the future
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to delegate effectively
High level of attention to detail, ability to work on own initiative
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong relationship management skills
Ability to use Microsoft office 365 suite of applications i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Travel between Ireland and the UK a requirement
